BIOGRAPHY
Marisa Benjamim (Portugal, 1981) lives and works in Berlin. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sculpture from ESTGAD, Caldas da Rainha, and holds two Master's degrees: one in Art in Context from UDK Berlin (Germany) and another in Arts from ESAD, Caldas da Rainha (Portugal).
Using plants as raw material and a starting point, Benjamim creates multi-sensory installations, where she explores culinary archaeology, flavor, social interaction, and the expansion of art into public and unconventional spaces. She employs edibility as an art medium, incorporating drawing, performance in site-specific projects, and collaboration with scientists, biologists, gardeners, among others.
