Beatriz Horta Correia

Lives and works in Lisbon. Studied Design and Ceramics at IADE and Drawing at Ar.Co in Lisbon, Portugal. Since 1983, Beatriz works on design projects in the areas of publishing, posters, packaging, illustration, corporate identity, merchandising, products and exhibitions, mainly in the field of cultural activities for museums, monuments and other institutions. In her practice as an artist, she has been interested in exploring different ways of representation and perception, merging different concepts with her memories and day-to-day experiences, and working in the two- and three-dimensional fields through mediums as drawing, sculpture, and installation. Nature and landscape are subjects she has dedicated herself to, using them to question and address issues like the ephemeral, the void, the silence, transformation, and memory. Books, writing, word, are also important fields of work. Her work has been regularly exhibited in museums and galleries since 1988 and is represented in Museu Nacional do Azulejo - Lisbon, Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea-Museu do Chiado - Lisbon, MUDAS– Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Madeira - Portugal, Museu do Oriente - Lisbon, Gulbenkian Biblioteca de Arte - Lisbon, and also in private collections.
